My passion for photography developed from my interest in art.
I have always been creative and have tried my hand at all forms of media, from watercolours to charcoal, but I was never satisfied with the finished results. Somehow, it didn't quite match my expectations or the image in my mind's eye.
And so I turned to photography, where I was able to better capture what I was seeing all around me. I took pictures of everything and anyone, developing an eye and learning the intricacies of light and shadow and to capture the moment.
Having attended numerous weddings as both a guest and a professional, I have observed the outpouring of love, joy, friendship and excitement for the overwhelming expectation that this day is a day of celebration.
There is a tangible feeling of warmth, intimacy and personality from the moment guests start to arrive; it is what makes weddings so incredibly special to me.
Often, you are not able to enjoy all of these moments as you are either not present or are so engrossed in your own emotions. It is true what they say, time flies when you're having fun. Most brides and grooms will tell you this especially applies on your wedding day. My role is to capture the subtleties and nuances in a way that will enable you to re-live the day and enjoy some of the most intimate moments that you simply could not have witnessed on the day.
Lets be clear, it is your story; you have deliberated over every detail and it's my honour to correlate these details to enable you to tell your story again and again.
Weddings are by definition, traditional, and many couples have a deep routed unconscious bias which shapes their expectations of a wedding photographer. I respect fully traditions however, I do not want to turn your wedding into a photoshoot.
It is always my desire to capture this genuine enjoyment as opposed to cultivating artificial moments. l look for authentic moments and aim to capture something of your relationship. I concentrate on putting you at ease and capturing your natural interactions, mixed in with some slightly more posed shots - but never feeling forced.
